David Sable, MD directs healthcare and life sciences investing for the Special Situations Funds and serves as portfolio manager for the Special Situations Life Sciences Fund and the Life Sciences Innovation venture capital funds, focusing on identifying and scaling differentiated companies across the healthcare and biotechnology landscape. Prior to joining Special Situations, he managed a proprietary healthcare portfolio at Deutsche Bank, bringing a public-markets and special situations lens to life sciences opportunities. Earlier in his career, Dr. Sable combined clinical leadership with entrepreneurship in reproductive medicine, founding Assisted Reproductive Medical Technologies (acquired by Saint Barnabas Medical Center in 1999) and co-founding Reprogenetics (acquired by CooperSurgical in 2015), and he also helped establish the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science at Saint Barnabas. He remains active in academic and industry education as an adjunct in Columbia University’s biology department and an instructor for “Entrepreneurship in Biotechnology” at Columbia’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and has served on multiple boards across life sciences and advocacy organizations.
